Mack-men split series with visiting Tribe

8/24 - Shibe Park
Bagby vs Newsom
Indians 6, A's 5
The Mack-men battled back from a 5-0 deficit by scoring 2 in the 7th and 3 in the 8th.  Neither team posted a run in the 9th, which facilitated extra frames.  Cleveland left fielder Jeff Heath led off the top of the 10th with a two bagger off of A's reliever Joe Berry, who was starting his 2nd inning of work. Roy Cullenbine bunted Heath over to third where he scored easily on a Buddy Rosar single.  Mr. Mack's hometown heroes did not go down with out a fight putting runners on 1st and second with 2 outs before Mike Naymick got Bobby Estalella to pop out weakly to Cullenbine in right to end it.

8/25
A.Smith vs Black
A's 1, Indians 0

Lots of hit for the Tribe, but nary a run.  Three Mack-men boxmen combined to scatter 8 hits and post the shutout.  Don Black was removed with 1 out in the 7th, and thanks to the pen got the win.  The lone run came in the bottom of the 2nd when Bill McGhee singled home Frankie Hayes, who led off the frame with a double.

8/26 - Game 1 DH
Reynolds vs Harris
Indians 4, A's 3

Buddy Rosar (3-4) knocked in 3 of the Tribe's 4 runs as Allie Reynolds gained the win for the visitors in the opener of the twin bill.  Philly made it a 1 run ballgame in the bottom of the 9th with an RBI double by Ford Garrison.  Hamlin attempted to bunt Garrison over to third, but catcher Rosar pounced on the ball and cut down the lead runner on third.  An around the horn DP ball by Peck ended the game in stylish fashion.

8/26 - Game 2 DH
Harder vs Christopher
A's 5, Indians 4

The White Elephant was not to be denied on a day where their late inning heroics would not fall short.  Down 4-3 in the bottom of the 9th the A's got a game tying no out double from Bobby Estalella, who took third on an errant throw from the outfield. Ford Garrison would end it with a superbly executed squeeze bunt.  The Tribe and the Mack-men would split the twin bill and the series.
