Jints and Cubbies split series opener in Coogan's Bluff

Borowy vs Voiselle
Cubs 5, Giants 4

Chicago held on in this close one thanks to a huge 4 run top of the 2nd.  Both teams posted 10 hits.  Hank Borowy wind up the star of the game more for his bat (2-4, 2 runs & 2 RBI) than his pitching (4ER in 9 IP).

8/19
Wyse vs Feldman
Giants 11, Cubs 3

Red hot Mel Ott once again took advantage of the 4F's from Chicago by going 3 for 5 with 3 RBI.  Harry Feldman.  For the second day in a row a pitcher accomplished more as a battsman.  Feldman knocked in 4 runs, scored 4 runs and incredibly hit 2 homers.  In his spare time he pitched 9 innings for a complete game win. Ott hit 1 of New York's 5 homers on the day.  The "Schnoz", Ernie Lombardi had 2 long balls himself, but the real story of the day was the 4 for 4 day by Giant hurler

8/20 - DH Game 1
Derringer vs Mungo
Cubs 5, Giants 1

Paul Derringer righted the ship for the Cubbies by scattering 4 hits and allowing just 1 run in a complete game effort.  Keeping with the trend of fine hitting boxmen, Derringer went 2 for 3 with a run scored.

8/20 - DH Game 2
Passeau vs Brewer
Giants 8, Cubs 6

A Danny Gardella 3 run shot erased Chicago's once insurmountable lead and allowed the Jints to
split the twin bill and the series.  Mel Ott, the man with the mighty leg kick scored 3 runs and knocked out another 2 hits to bring his season average to .412
